First Love Ep. 45 - The Pool Of Bethesda: From Slaughter To Stirring

Show Notes: In this episode, Dr. Robyn Kassas and Dr. Nathan Kassas continue their series on the gates of Jerusalem (Nehemiah 3), focusing on the Sheep Gate as the vital first conversation with God. They correct the common misunderstanding of 2 Corinthians 5:17, explaining that we are not instantly “become new” but are continually becoming new—an ongoing process of transformation (present tense in the Greek).
The Sheep Gate represents surrender and sacrifice of the old life, leading to the Pool of Bethesda (House of Mercy) for healing the lingering effects of the old nature. Drawing on Psalm 23, neuroscience (neuroplasticity and renewing the mind), and the story in John 5, they emphasize that the Shepherd leads us beside still waters that must be stirred for restoration. True healing requires full surrender; God does not leave us empty but fills and restores us progressively through relationship.
Hosts: Dr. Robyn Kassas and Dr. Nathan Kassas
Topics Covered: Gates of Jerusalem Series, Sheep Gate & Sacrifice, Becoming New, Pool of Bethesda Healing, Shepherd Leads, Surrender Before Healing, Ongoing Sanctification & Transformation
