Every Moment Holy' author Douglas Kaine McKelvey and Unspoken’s Jon Lowry join Brandon Woolum to talk about Anchoring the Heart in Hope, the latest installment in the Every Moment Holy: Prayer Songs series.
McKelvey shares how Every Moment Holy began as a collection of liturgical prayers for everyday moments before eventually inspiring a musical expression, while Lowry explains how the pair discovered a unique approach to creating meditative prayer songs designed to be repeated and used during personal prayer.
They also dive into why Anchoring the Heart in Hope focuses specifically on death, grief and eternal hope, including how the songs could minister to people walking through loss, caring for a loved one or facing end-of-life situations. The conversation explores why Christian hope doesn’t erase sorrow, but can change the way we experience it.
Douglas and Jon also discuss the unexpected grief surrounding Dolly Parton’s passing, the song “Pending Joy,” what it means to “pray without ceasing,” the upcoming Every Moment Holy Live experience, and where the growing Prayer Songs project could go next.
