About Marcia Brown
Marcia Wilson Brown is vice chancellor for external relations and governmental affairs, a position in which she forges and maintains relationships on behalf of Rutgers University – Newark with public officials, governmental agencies, and civic groups.
Brown is an alumna of the School of Law-Newark where she was the recipient of three honors: International Academy of Trial Lawyers Award, Judge J. Skelly Wright Award for Civil and Human Rights Activities, and the Rutgers Alumni Senior Award. She clerked for Chief Justice Robert Wilentz, Chief Justice of the New Jersey Supreme Court, and was admitted to practice in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, U.S. Federal District Courts (Eastern Districts, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit.
Brown is a mother, grandmother, poet, and the founder of the Newark Repertory Theater Company committed to engaging and educating audiences with bold, dynamic, and diverse theatrical plays.
Brown became a born again Christian in 2005 when she found herself on her knees in front of the Atlantic Ocean where she asked God to be the head of her life. Ever since, she has been on a faith journey seeking to follow the Holy Spirit and the word of God. Brown is a member of First Baptist Church of Long Branch where the congregation is fully diverse and where she serves as deacon. She writes daily devotions under the guidance of the Holy Spirit titled The Serengeti Minute that she sends out to a email and text blog and which are contained in this site. She also hosts the Upper Room Ministries, a conference call.com program that engages people From across the country in prayer and worship every Saturday morning at 11 AM.
