A body of reliable information is finally emerging as more experience has been gained with COVID-19, and as more studies have been completed on both mothers and babies. With the health of two persons at stake in every pregnancy, it is very important that we take this new information into account in order to decide about pregnancy vaccination.
Making health decisions for our children is never easy, especially in the case of a new disease that continues to change, but we do have a sovereign God who is involved in every aspect of our children’s lives and whom we can trust to complete the good works He has begun in us, we have the principles in His Word and the Holy Spirit to guide us, and we now have two years of information about COVID-19 and increasing amounts of information about the vaccines available to us.
Most of the experts think some combination of the present vaccine and boosters, along with unspecified tweaks, will currently work for us. If you feel a little underwhelmed by their lack of certainty, I’m with you. The problem is that we’ve never dealt with a pandemic or even an epidemic of this type before, and the experts are still figuring it out.
So, let us cling to the promise of being renewed as we view our sufferings as just a pass-through on our way to eternal glory. And—let us stop and take others along with us.
The first part of this article,“Is the COVID-19 Vaccine Ethical for Christians? Part 1,” dealt with the question of whether vaccinations in general fit within the Christian worldview as an ethical way to fight disease. Thank you for all the ways you have upheld our students' wellbeing in the past. We ask you to continue to preserve their physical and mental health, even in this age of a pandemic.
Vaccinations are not meant to be effective for more than one disease. Rather each vaccination places one training instructor into our bodies to teach our body defense cells: to instantly recognize an enemy they haven’t yet seen and to build up the body’s ability to fight this enemy immediately as soon as it is seen.
If you have had a hard day at work, followed by a long commute, you probably don't have a lot of energy for playing with your kids, planning a date with your wife/husband, or volunteering for your church or community.
As many lockdown restrictions begin to lift, we are all trying to navigate what life looks like now. How do we re-enter life responsibly and compassionately? How do we care for ourselves and our communities?
COVID is not going away anytime soon. Politicians promise solutions they can’t deliver. No one can predict the future. But we CAN control our behaviors and our attitudes. We can act like Christians. So, how do we start?
We have unfortunately lasted far longer than anyone ever originally thought. Because of this, there is a sense of needing to make up for lost time, so how can we do so after so much time spent apart?
