Ole Miss’ Trinidad Chambliss Declares ‘Jesus Won,’ Apologizes for Profanity after Big Win

One of the nation’s top college quarterbacks swapped his uniform for a “Jesus Won” T-shirt moments after one of the biggest wins in program history Saturday, telling a room full of reporters that his faith brought him peace amid the pressure of the moment. He also apologized for cursing during a postgame interview, saying the language didn’t reflect who he is.

Ole Miss quarterback Trinidad Chambliss delivered a Heisman-worthy performance in the Rebels’ 32-24 victory over rival LSU, completing 33 of 48 passes for 363 yards and two touchdowns —and giving the program a memorable win in Oxford, Miss., over former coach Lane Kiffin, who left Ole Miss before the 2025 season ended to take over the Tigers.

“God is good. God is so good. Our team is resilient,” Chambliss told ABC’s Holly Rowe seconds after the game ended, still standing on the field.

Chambliss added that he prayed before and during the game, saying he was going to give God “the glory and praise” win or lose. 

But for many ABC viewers, it was what Chambliss said as the interview ended that drew attention, as he dropped an f-bomb while delivering the Rebels’ traditional “Hotty Toddy” cheer — sparking reaction on social media from fans who noticed the contrast between his faith-filled comments and his profanity.

Chambliss wore a “Jesus Won” T-shirt to the postgame news conference and immediately addressed the incident, saying his emotions had gotten the best of him.

“I'm deeply, deeply apologetic to Holly Rowe and everyone out there that was listening,” Chambliss said. “That's not who I am.”

Chambliss has been one of the more outspoken Christians in college football since emerging as a star at Ole Miss, where he led the Rebels to the semifinals of the College Football Playoff last season and finished in the Top 10 in Heisman Trophy voting.

He’s expected to contend for college football’s most prestigious award this season.

“Family is the most important thing in my life alongside Jesus Christ,” Chambliss told the media Saturday. “Just seeing her support kind of calms my nerves a little bit down. Whenever I pray with her, it just feels like, ‘I got this.’”

Chambliss also expanded on the message on his shirt.

“Jesus won, regardless of the situation,” he said. “[I] just give thanks to Jesus Christ. I know times can be tough for some people in their lives, but you just got to always remind yourself that Jesus won. Give thanks in every situation that you encounter that you have, and there'll always be light at the end of the tunnel.”
