Bestselling author and podcaster Annie F. Downs is getting married.

The host of the popular That Sounds Fun Podcast announced this week her engagement to J.W. Jaeger, a musician and drummer whom she describes as the “most humble, silly, kind, loving, hilarious, brave man I’ve ever met.”

“I’ve never had this much fun in my whole life,” Downs wrote on Instagram. “... He loves Jesus and fun and me. I love him too. It’s the best.”

Jaeger has toured with Charles Billingsley and works as a DJ/MC at events throughout the year, including for the K-LOVE Cruise. Downs is a speaker, podcaster, and author of books such as 100 Days to Brave, That Sounds Fun, Remember God, and Let’s Read the Gospels.

“I’m so happy I get to marry this man,” she wrote on Instagram when she revealed the engagement alongside lyrics to a song by the band Tors: “All I know is it’s the best thing I’ll do; to live my life the same time as you; to share your hand, your bed, and the stars; to be your friend til death do us part.”

Jaeger, too, shared the news on social media as he celebrated the proposal.

“One quiet weekend this Spring I got to ask my best friend, my favorite person, the love of my WHOLE actual life – if she would spend the rest of her life with me,” Jaeger wrote. “And she said YES! A day started out in nature and ended with friends around the table smiling, laughing, rejoicing and saying – look at how good God is.

“Annie, thank you for loving me and for going on our journey with me. You light up every single room you step your tiny little feet in. And I’m so proud to be on your arm. Day by day. Through every season. Thank You, Jesus. THANK YOU! Thank You for keeping Your promises to us!”

Downs first revealed to the public that she was dating two days after Valentine’s Day in a social media post.

“I’ve never done this before, and I’m not sure how to now. So bear with me as I navigate having both a private and a public life. But I’ve met a really good man, and I want you to know,” she wrote. “This relationship hasn’t been a secret – since we met at a Women of Joy event last spring and started dating (he was drumming, I was speaking, Lisa Harper introduced us, he slid in my DMs, tale as old as time), we’ve spent tons of time with friends and met each other’s family.”

She added at the time: “He’s my funny and favorite Valentine.”
